SCANNER Implementation Group
The introduction of SCANNER technology on local authority roads was overseen by the SCANNER Implementation Group, on behalf of the Roads Board.
This consisted of an Implementation Advisory Group (IAG), chaired by John Ekins, OBE which met 11 times between January 2006 and November 2006, and considered a number of different issues. The IAG brought together representatives from English, Welsh and Scottish local authorities and national governments, survey contractors and UKPMS developers. As well as the attending members, a wide range of stakeholders were invited to become ‘corresponding members’ who received papers, but did not attend meetings. The Group elected local authority representatives to serve on a Project Management Group.
The Project Management Group, chaired by Lester Wilmington of Devon County Council, took advice from the (IAG) and reported progress to the Roads Board and the IAG. It met 18 times between November 2004 and January 2007 to direct the SCANNER implementation project, and ensure it kept to timetable and delivered feasible and practicable results.
Technical and administrative support for the SCANNER Implementation Group was provided by the Halcrow Group Limited.
