The Highways England Knowledge Compendium was launched following a review of existing programme processes and replaces the Research Compendium. It is designed to help you easily navigate through the projects and link research to outcomes, and to provide detail on the new four year Research Strategy and two year Knowledge Programme. In addition you will find information regarding the roles of the groups delivering the programme.
Scottish Roads Research Board
This has been established in 2013 as output of the National Road Maintenance Review in Scotland. The Board aims to:
• Coordinate research activity within the roads community establish better formal links with academia
• identify new appropriate potential sources of research funding
• Establish links with other bodies undertaking road related research, coordinate activity and communicate results and research activity to the wider roads community.
Transport Advice Portal
TAP is a paper-free technical library devised to help you find the up-to-date documents you need when planning, designing and operating road networks in the UK. The portal acts as a one-stop-shop depository of web links to core documents produced by a range of organisations. It will help you find specific documents you already know about but will also direct you to helpful information you may not previously been aware of.
HMEP has a knowledge hub for sharing information. This is run through the Local Government Association knowledge hub portal. Although not focused on research it is provided to help local government and the wider highway maintenance sector communicate, collaborate and be signposted in the right direction for solutions.
